4 easy & aesthetic valentine’s day diy projects

thank you walmart for sponsoring this post!

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and it’s the perfect occasion to add a touch of romance to your home decor. I had a lot of fun coming up with these DIY’s that are not only easy, but are aesthically pleasing too!

With the help of a few versatile Walmart finds, I created a few charming DIY projects that will elevate your space for this day of loooove. Let’s dive into four easy-to-follow crafts that promise to bring warmth and whimsy into your home!

Ribbon Candleholders

Starting off really easy with this DIY, I found the most adorable candleholders from Walmart that are perfect for the Valentine’s Day but also great year round. I love being able to repurpose decor throughout the year and these are such a great price too!

I picked ribbon that seemed elevated and elegant to me, I loved that it has little loops on the side and is dainty enough to wrap around the candle holders! I wrapped the ribbon around to start and made a fake bow so I could figure out how much ribbon to use per candleholder.

Once I figured out the length I cut two pieces (one for each candleholder) and tied little bows around the candleholders! I tied them how I normally tie shoes, nothing fancy but the candleholders are such a cute touch! You can also put a little dot of hot glue on the candleholder to hold the ribbon in place.

I also found these fun taper candles from Walmart, the ribbed shape adds an elegant touch to the finished look. They also have them in pink and a few other colors too!

DIY Heart Frame

This frame honestly turned out way cuter than I expected! This is such a sweet DIY that is perfect to use as decor or even a DIY gift. Again another DIY that can be used year round.

I found this pretty gold frame and used watercolor paper to create the heart matte. I loved how the watercolor paper had a nice texture to it.

I bought a 9” x 12” pack of watercolor paper and cut it down to 8” x 10” to fit into the frame. Then I marked the center of the paper and used a cookie cutter to trace the heart shape in the center of the paper.

After I traced, I used an X-acto knife to carefully trace around the heart on a cutting mat! You want to move verrrryyyy slowly and press hard enough that the paper cuts. Just keep checking as you are moving the knife along.

Once you cut out the shape, tape a photo of you and your loved one to the back of the matte and put it in the frame. So easy!

DIY Heart Garland

These large heart confetti pieces totally inspired me to create a little garland out of them! You know I’m the queen of garland haha I make them all the time!

The confetti pieces come with a pack with lots of different colors, so you can get as creative as you want with color. I used solid red because I only have pops of red but multiple colors would be so cute! I used 4 packs total to get enough red hearts

I used a hole punch to punch holes in the sides and laced the same pretty ribbon I used for the candleholders to create the garland. The ribbon is only $0.47 a pack which is such a great deal! I wanted to use the same ribbon to create a cohesive look with the candle holders. I also measured the garland in my window since I knew where I wanted to hang it once I finished.

Once I finished threading the hearts through the ribbon, I just tied loops at both ends to hang on the nails on the insides of my window. Doesn’t it look so cute with my other valentines day garlands?!

Affirmation Box

This is my absolute favorite creation. I’m obsessed with it!! I shared how Shawn and I have both been journaling this year and have been working on affirmations! I thought a box would be so nice to have to read back to each other!

Walmart has these adorable mail boxes with a little opening at the top. I painted it a deeper red (I mixed flamenco red & flag red) and decorated it with some trim I had! Then I added these cute roses all around the box. It’s such a fun accent in the kitchen!

I like the opening at the top because Shawn and I can easily put little affirmations in the box whenever they come to mind. I love that it’s encouraging us to both write sweet things about each other on more days than just valentines day, ya know!?

Walmart is more than just a store. it’s a destination for creativity and inspiration! I love searching Walmart.com or going in store to get ideas for projects. With Walmart’s wide variety of products, you can easily find everything you need for these DIY projects and more. They’re dedicated to bringing you quality supplies that make crafting accessible and enjoyable.
