I’m so excited to share part 1 of my Smeg review series! I’m a huge fan of Smeg appliances, I love that I don’t have to sacrifice style for function. 😊 They are made to last and fit seamlessly into the design of our home. Smeg products are investment pieces so I wanted to share the pros & cons of each appliance in a three-part review series on the blog, starting things off with my large appliances!
Here are a few places you can find Smeg appliances!

Stove
When we started the kitchen renovation, we were most interested in this stove. We loved the look and it fit within our appliance budget which was great! We knew our biggest investment would be the fridge and we wouldn’t budge on that. We worked the rest of the appliance budget around the fridge. After having our stove for several years I can say I am super happy with this purchase. It is a high-quality stove that is designed to last. Not to mention, I love the sleek and timeless design of it!
Our range is a couple of years old now, smeg has since updated this model so the one I’m linking to looks a little different design-wise. The clock is moved over a little… but other than that it’s the same! Our stove is also dual-fuel, the burners use gas and the oven uses electricity! I personally love it because I can tell the difference in baking compared to our old gas range at our previous home. The electric oven is best for temperature control. I’m always impressed with how well the oven bakes everything!
Not only does the oven always bake everything so perfectly and the burners cook really well too. When it comes to functionality the stove works great for us. The middle burner is double so it’s super strong, we always use it for our wok! One thing that’s definitely worth mentioning though is that the medium and large burners don’t go to a true simmer. I believe you can adjust the burner strength, I’m not 100% sure though! I just don’t use the strong burners to simmer.
We clean all of our stainless steel appliances with these stainless steel wipes. You just wipe in the direction of the steel grain and then buff the surface with a microfiber towel! If you use a regular all-purpose cleaner you’ll see streaks.
Overall, I would definitely recommend our stove to those who are interested in making the purchase. Shawn and I are both super happy with it!
Microwave
To US standards, I feel like this microwave would be small. But it is SO powerful. No joke! Our microwave is built into our kitchen island which is so convenient. Personally, I love that it doesn’t take up counter space and can be hidden in our island. I know not everyone is able to work a built-in microwave into their space, Smeg has countertop options as well! Both the built-in and countertop microwaves are on the smaller side, which would be my preference after having both large and small microwaves.
It always microwaves thoroughly which makes sense because I see the same consistency with the oven. We’ve had this microwave since 2019 and I don’t have any plans to switch it. At first, I was shocked by the size because we had a very large microwave at our old house, but after a while, we realized we didn’t need a large one at all! We use the microwave to reheat leftovers which we don’t have much of so it’s a perfect fit for us. These are the dimensions—11” wide by 11” deep by 7 1/2” tall. The actual plate you microwave on is about 10 1/2”.
I love that it has a simplistic design and doesn’t have a bunch of different buttons. One of the first signs of wear on a microwave is typically the buttons and I haven’t noticed any wear on ours! It has 6 Functions, LED Display, Pizza Microwave, Defrost by Time and Weight, and a quick start option. The microwave only displays military time, it might take some time to get used to but it doesn’t bother us. Also, I love the fingerprint-proof stainless steel & I imagine this would be perfect if you have kids who are using the microwave.
Retro Fridge
Overall, the biggest investment in our kitchen was our cream retro fridge. I designed the entire kitchen around it! Everything from the cabinet sizes to the stove, to the placement of the kitchen island, was all based on one appliance…our retro refrigerator. 😍
It’s something special to us that we both love, it’s perfect for our lifestyle, and our home. We love vintage and antiques so we loved the idea of having a vintage-inspired refrigerator. That’s why it was worth the investment to us!
The size of the fridge is the most common question I get, which makes sense because it is much smaller than the average fridge haha! Overall, the size is perfect for us and we love it. It’s deeper than it looks so you can fit a lot in it, you can see how I organize my fridge here, also check-in for weekly #fridgechecks on stories. 🙂
We eat primarily fresh so by the end of the week the fridge is pretty much empty. We also don’t typically have leftovers because we don’t eat takeout often. We had a larger fridge at our last house and it always looked empty, literally Shawn’s mom used to be concerned for us LOL. It was too big for us! Right now, it’s just me, Shawn, and our bunny (Zuri) that use the fridge…and it’s perfect! The good news is that now if you want this style of refrigerator but need a larger size, they sell a larger option!!
One other thing to note is that the fridge also doesn’t have an ice maker or water dispenser. This wasn’t a huge deal for us, but I could totally understand how that might deter someone from choosing this fridge. We use a Brita for our water, it fits perfectly into the fridge. the freezer space could definitely be considered small compared to other freezers. We don’t eat a lot of frozen food so it doesn’t bother us…but I could see it being a problem for others.
As you can tell, I am OBSESSED with all of our large smeg appliances! 😍 They are really great quality and truly fit the look of our home so well. When investing in large appliances I wanted to know that I would love them for years to come and I truly am so happy with our Smeg products. If you have any other questions about our large appliances let me know in the comments & I’d be happy to help. Next up on the blog I’ll be reviewing our small appliances, keep your eye out for that post!
