Tips for making the best mother’s day gift baskets

I love making gift baskets for loved ones. (Especially ones that can be utilized as decor after! 😁) I feel like it's the best way to get creative and gift something super thoughtful! I wanted to share with you guys what I’ll be giving my mom and mother-in-law this year to hopefully spark some ideas for you guys as well! Whether you’re gifting for your mom, grandma, sister, friend, or co-worker, I hope these tips are helpful!

Current Interests
I like to think of my moms' current interests or random things that have been brought up in conversations. Note that this doesn’t have to be anything over the top! It could even be something that relieves or brings comfort to a situation they’re dealing with. Here are some examples of what I put in their baskets:
My mother-in-law loves beauty and skincare so I picked out some sheet masks for her to try! She always talks about how she likes to try new things. Plus, sheet masks after a long day are super relaxing.
My mom LOVES bright colors and candles. So I combined the two ideas and found these gorgeous candles that will work perfectly in her home!
Cooking Ideas
I love putting some kind of food-related item in a gift basket. Whether it be a sweet treat, their favorite coffee/tea, or even a cookbook! Walmart has so many different cookbooks to choose from, I like to keep in mind any special interest or type of diet someone has when finding a cookbook.
My mom is on keto so I found some keto snacks to gift to her. I also love keto because it’s sugar-free so she can share with me haha! She loves keto brownies so I got her a pack and I picked out a keto cookbook to give her some recipe ideas!
My mother-in-law loves her air fryer so I found an air fryer recipe cookbook for her to try! P.S. If you are looking for an air fryer you can even get one delivered with the Walmart+ membership. How cool is that?!
Favorite Flowers or Greenery
You truly can’t go wrong with flowers for mother’s day! I love matching the flowers to their personal taste. I think about whether they would like bright colors, neutrals, greenery, or maybe even a faux plant.
My mom loves bright colors so I’m be incorporating that in her flower arrangement. My mother-in-law loves plants (just like me 😆) so I’m going to gift her some herbs to grow!
Relaxation
In my opinion, you can’t go wrong with anything that encourages a little relaxation time. Think of anything that can be used for a spa day!
My mother-in-law has arthritis so I really wanted to find some type of soothing oils + moisturizers to gift to her, I found quite a few so I’m super excited to gift them to her!
Books
For another idea, I love gifting books! I know I talked about cookbooks earlier but that might not pique everyone’s interest. There truly is a book for everyone though! Find a book that's focused on their special interests anything from interior design, gardening, devotionals, travel, art, etc. It would be super thoughtful to pick out a book you could both read and talk about together – like a mini book club!
Assembling the basket
I like to use scrap paper/tissue paper to fill the basket. You can even use old boxes to fill the empty space too! I like to build it up a little bit toward the back to create some height, placing the tallest gifts in the back. I try not to overfill the basket but fill it enough so it doesn’t look bare. There’s a happy balance between the two!
