How I Organize My Fridge

I never realized how lovely it would be to have an organized fridge until I spent some time organizing it a few months ago & now it’s something I do regularly. I find myself really appreciating all that I’m blessed with when I spend time actually taking care of it. So as of lately, organizing things in my home is more of a joy to me. Praise the Lord!! Plus…as you guys know from stories…I enjoy cooking 😆Now I’m definitely no chef but I’m in our refrigerator often and it’s honestly really refreshing opening up an organized space!

Keeping our refrigerator organized has also helped me make sure we aren’t wasting foods and when things are tidy, I always know what I have on hand for meals. Everything is in its own container and can be easily accessed, even if it's behind another food container, it’s still easy to see. It is really easy to keep our fridge clean now too! And I honestly do enjoy the view. 😍 Since I tend to purchase the same types of foods, I can quickly clean the shelves as needed and restock everything in their spots each week/bi-weekly.

Organizing The Day I Grocery Shop

  • After some trial & error, I’ve found the most effective way to organize is to do everything the day I grocery shop. I don’t put anything away unless it’s going in its spot.

  • The same day I shop, I chop and wash any veggies I’d use for meals (or I buy precut to place in containers, just totally depends on my schedule).

  • I marinate any meat for the week at this time too!

  • I love to use reusable bags, glass storage, Tupperware, even vintage bowls and baskets!

Typically, we finish all our groceries on a weekly basis—I shop for Shawn, myself & my bunny, Zuri! The only thing leftover is usually milk, condiments and a couple of juices. I like to keep a little notepad in my phone for expiration dates of the things that will stay in the fridge for a while. I haven’t had to do this too often, mainly for things like milk and condiments!

Making sure everything has a place has been the key to staying organized. Everything in our fridge has a container it is stored in and a place on the shelves for the container to go. As you all know, decorating is kind of my thing..and I honestly have so much fun placing the containers in a way that’s pleasing to the eye. 🤩

Containers I Love

  • I love these Marie Kondo containers because of the design. It’s honestly why I splurged on them. I have them in clear glass and white ceramic, I used her items in my pantry last year. (Who remembers when I shared pantry organizing?!) They are of great quality but also look very nice, making my fridge a nice sight to see!

  • These reusable storage bags have a great seal on them! I LOVE the largest storage size but have also found the sandwich size to be very useful! I also love using stasher bags too for this same reason!

  • The clear rectangular containers are great for stacking and I love all of the sizes that are offered! If you’re starting off, I’d suggest getting their variety pack. In some variety packs, I find the ‘small’ containers to be too small for me, anyone else with that problem?! 😅 However, this variety pack has the perfect small size! I like to store my pesto and garlic gloves in them.

Organizing my fridge has become something I truly enjoy doing. It’s relaxing to me! I had to incorporate it into my routine to start, but once I nailed down a system it became such an enjoyable (and relaxing) part of my week!
