Cozy outfit essentials

During the winter months, I love all things cozy, especially my wardrobe. I wear super comfortable clothes all year long — but especially in the winter, I find myself reaching for cozy sweaters, oversized sweatshirts, and comfy pants. 

I can always find cozy basics and layering pieces at Walmart. One of my favorite brands of theirs is Free Assembly! They have a variety of classic items at an affordable price point — here are a few of my cozy winter outfit essentials & tips for how I find pieces I love. 

Oversized sweaters & sweatshirts

As far as tops go in the winter, sweaters and sweatshirts are my staples. Kind of a no brainer, right!? Living in the Midwest, I wear a sweater or sweatshirt nearly every day. I love finding unique sweaters — I like looking for ones with different textures or patterns. I don’t think you can go wrong with an oversized sweatshirt. Cozy tip: I always make sure to look through the men’s section at stores to find the best layering basics.

Cozy pants

When it comes to cozy pants, I have two favorites I wear in the winter month. If I’m inside at home, I always go for comfy loungewear. I like straight-leg loungewear pants or a simple pair of black leggings. If I’m going to be out and about, I always reach for relaxed denim. This style helps me feel more put together but still prioritizes comfort. Can you tell that’s a must for me? Btw I prefer an medium or light wash for my denim.

Textured second layers

If you live in a colder climate, you know that layers are your best friend. To stay cozy and warm I always go for a cardigan or textured zip-up. I favor pieces with a unique texture or stitching to add a more personal touch to any outfit.

Cozy and warm footwear

Comfort is essential from head to toe, so of course, I wanted to include my favorite types of winter shoes. For the inside, I love cozy slides and slippers. There are so many options to choose from, I love these neutral teddy slide slippers. Cozy winter boots are a must for the outdoors. I like to have a little extra detailing on mine. For example, these boots have neutral color combinations, unique details in the laces, and fuzzy textures.

Wintery accessories

The final touch is accessories — of course, there are the basics like beanies, scarves, gloves, etc. However, if you’ve been watching my IG stories lately, you know that Shawn loves his belt bag. So, I couldn’t resist including one in my cozy winter essentials. I love the neutral color with the faux sherpa detailing to give it an extra cozy touch.
